Greywell Walk January 2019

This a circular walk around the village of Greywell, Hampshire. The Pub, the Fox & Goose is on The Street, Greywell, near where you will park. From their website in 2020: We offer a "pre-walk" ordering service where you can reserve a table, order your food and drinks before you leave providing us with your estimated time of return. Your food and drinks will be ready for you shortly after your return.     We are also happy for walkers to use the car park and restroom facilities if they intend to pop in for lunch or a drink after their walk. FoxandGoose Website Car Park This walk starts on the The Street, Greywell. We parked on this road - there are no yellow lines but park sensitively for the home-owners. The Route. 1. Starting somewhere near the lychgate for St Mary's church head left (if you're standing outside the gates looking at the road) 2. Farley Hill & Eversley Circular Walk 3.5 Miles, May 2020

This is a circular walk of about 3.5 miles starting and ending in Farley Hill. Sadly there is no pub on this walk. Car Park This walk starts and finished outside Farley Hill Primary School. At weekends you may park there anytime - on weekdays there is plenty of kerb-side parking near the school (avoiding the school entrances of course). The Route 1. Facing away from the school entrance turn right down Church Road towards Jouldings Lane. 2. As Church Road turns left to head down the hill you'll notice a narrow entrance to the public footpath between a bungalow and a tall hedge. Take this. 3. After following the garden of the house the path turns right and crosses a private garden. This is the official route of the path and was previously marked with a fence-line which the owner has removed - you are fully entitled to walk over this garden/lawn and it only takes 10 seconds to walk over. 4. Follow down the path - over the stile - and into and through the field. 5. Follow the farm trac...

Farley Hill to Henry Street Nursery Linear Walk

This is a lovely short-ish walk from Farley Hill to Henry Street Garden Centre This is a linear walk, largely, there and back on the same route but there is a short difference at the end. Car Park This route starts at the Playing Fields on Castle Hill, there is limited parking there but normally enough for one or two cars. The Route 1. Walk left down Castle Hill from the Playing Fields. 2. At Church Lane turn right (your first right after the entrance to Farley Hall gates. 3. After the Cricket Club take a left down the public footpath that borders the cricket pitch. 4. The path emerges onto Bunces Shaw (lane) turn right down this road. 5. After about 50 metres you come to a public footpath down to the left - it cuts behind a house - take this path. It's easy to miss  - there is a finger post pointing the way on the opposite side - so if you pass the house on the left - Shaw House, you've missed it! 6. This path soon joins another path- take it and head left downhill. 7. At the ...

Swallowfield Circular Walk 7 miles

This is a gentle sunday-lunch walk around Swallowfield village. There is a pub right in the middle of the village- The Crown. Car Park Depending on the day you walk we have parked at All Saints Church but you could also easily start by parking at the Medical Surgery car park if it was a sunday and the church was being used. This walk assumes a start at the Medical Surgery. The Route 1. Leave the Medical Surgery car park and turn left. 2. At the roundabout cross the road and head into the estate land of Swallowfield Park - taking the path to the left of the old gate house. 3. Head towards the Pitt bridge, cross it and take the path along the river to the right. 4. Follow this path until it emerges at the church car park - walk through this onto Church Road. 5. Walk to the left up Church Road then cross it at the left hand bend to the footbridge. Cross the bridge. 6. Silchester Circular Walk

This is a circular walk of about 7 miles around the area of Silchester Roman Town (ancient Calleva). There is a pub at the start ( and therefore also at the finish - The Calleva Arms). Take snacks and drinks for this one, 7 miles is a long way so take your time and plan a long day in the woods, play on the trees, enjoy walking the Roman walls at the end - hunt for Roman pottery in fields around... Car Park Depending on the day there is car parking on the playing fields on Pamber Road or at the Village Hall. Probably best at the playing fields  - and that's where this walk starts). The Route 1. From the playing fields car park cross Pamber Road into Dukes' Ride. 2. Head down Dukes Ride until you come to a footpath sign forking to the right. 2. Follow this bridleway all along the back of the houses in the woods, it will start to descend to a little stream - - follow this and the path to the left - have a play on the fallen trees and follow the path right to a small bridge. Cross ...

Farley Hill Circular Walk, May 2020

This is a 4 mile/ 5.9 km walk from the centre of Farley Hill down to the Blackwater and back. Sadly there's no pub in Farley Hill but the George & Dragon in Swallowfield is on the route and about halfway! We've done this walk on foot and on bike - with bikes there are some annoying kissing gates but no styles and you can navigate all of them with adult and children's bikes. CarPark There is car parking just alongside the Playing Fields in the centre of the village. The Route. 1. Starting facing away (south) from the playing fields turn left to head down Church Road. 2. After passing the primary school on your right take the left lane - Jouldings Lane - and follow it all the way to bottom (about 1 mile) 3. Take the public footpath on your right (opposite the house) and walk through the fields (about 4 of them) along the river Blackwater until you reach the ford. 4. Cross the track/road opposite and stay on the same bank. 5. Follow the river through another couple of fiel...

Stratfield Turgis, Hampshire 7.5km

A gentle walk around the Loddon valley floor. 7.5km (c 2.25 hrs) Starting pub: Jekyll & Hyde, Stratfield Turgis Car Parking The start of this walk is next to the Jekyll & Hyde pub, but please don't park in the pub carpark. Heading towards Basingstoke on the A33 there is a small public car park for the playground park just immediately after the pub's carpark entrance. This little carpark has enough room for two or three cars but we've never seen anyone else there. The Route     1. Leave the recreation ground and turn left. Follow the footway for around 30m and you will see a footpath marker partially hidden in the hedge opposite. There is also a gap in the hedge almost directly opposite the car park and both lead into the field. 2. Go through the small opening and follow the footpath up the edge of the field, keeping the hedge on the right. 3. At the end of the field turn right onto a wider farm track heading slightly down hill to farm bui...
