Farley Hill, Arborfield Cross Circular Walk, December 2020

This is a lovely short-ish walk of about 4 miles from Farley Hill to Arborfield Cross and back via Great Copse / Castle Hill.  This walk initially follows the same route as a previous Farley Hill to Henry Street Nursery walk from this site but this variation changes the walk because of the opening of the new bypass in 2020.  This route does not go to Henry Street! Car Park This route starts at the Playing Fields on Castle Hill, there is limited parking there but normally enough for one or two cars. The Route 1. Walk left down Castle Hill from the Playing Fields. 2. At Church Lane turn right (your first right after the entrance to Farley Hall gates. 3. After the Cricket Club take a left down the public footpath that borders the cricket pitch. 4. The path emerges onto Bunces Shaw (lane) turn right down this road. 5. After about 50 metres you come to a public footpath down to the left - it cuts behind a house - take this path. It's easy to miss  - there is a finger post poin...

This is a circular walk starting in the Berkshire village of Ashampstead. This walk is 4.5 miles and took just under 2 hours to complete. Yattendon, the halfway point is the home to a brewey and The Royal Oak pub. The village Post Office also does take out Tea and Coffee and has a small shop. Aston Tirrold to Cholsey Circular Walk November 2020

This circular walk starts in the village of Aston Tirrold and circles through the neighbouring village of Cholsey where Agatha Christie is buried. The walk is about 5.7 miles and took about 2.5 hrs. There is no pub on the route although there are pubs in both villages not far off the routes. Car Park We parked on Aston Street, just in front of the Church of St Michael in Aston Tirrold. Parking is just on street beside the road. The Route 1. Facing the church / looking at the church head right for about 10 metres until you see the footpath sign pointing right. Take this broad path. 2. After about 10 metres you'll come to a fork, take the left path heading across the field facing about 10 o'clock. 3. At the end of the path you'll emerge into the very large field on the other side of some trees, onto a concrete farm track. Head left along this track, keeping the wooded hedge on your right. Follow this field edge path, which at some point changes from concrete to grass, until y...

Aldermarston & Padworth College Circular Walk, November 2020

This a circular walk from Aldermarston Canal Wharf and around Padworth College. The walk is about 3.2 miles and took us about 1.5 hrs. There isn't a pub on the route but the Kennet & Avon Canal Wharf Visitor Centre has a cafe. Car Park This walk starts on in a small car-park at the back of the Canal Visitor Centre on Wharfside. We found parking was limited and there are only a couple of streets nearby where you can leave your car. Aldermarston train station is nearby over the road on Station Road but was empty when we went during Lockdown 2 - we assume its the locals not wanting to pay the parking charges. The Route. 1. From Mill Lane, looking at the school take the right-hand of the two stone tracks, passing the school on your left. The stone access track leads you between a number of houses and then on through a tunnel of trees. Continue past the trout farm on your right and, immediately after this, turn right onto the signed public footpath which leads you between tall fenc...

This a circular walk around the village of Greywell, Hampshire. The Pub, the Fox & Goose is on The Street, Greywell, near where you will park. Your food and drinks will be ready for you shortly after your return.     We are also happy for walkers to use the car park and restroom facilities if they intend to pop in for lunch or a drink after their walk. FoxandGoose Website Car Park This walk starts on the The Street, Greywell. We parked on this road - there are no yellow lines but park sensitively for the home-owners. The Route. 1. Farley Hill & Eversley Circular Walk 3.5 Miles, May 2020

This is a circular walk of about 3.5 miles starting and ending in Farley Hill. Sadly there is no pub on this walk. Car Park This walk starts and finished outside Farley Hill Primary School. At weekends you may park there anytime - on weekdays there is plenty of kerb-side parking near the school (avoiding the school entrances of course). The Route 1. Facing away from the school entrance turn right down Church Road towards Jouldings Lane. 2. As Church Road turns left to head down the hill you'll notice a narrow entrance to the public footpath between a bungalow and a tall hedge. Take this. 3. After following the garden of the house the path turns right and crosses a private garden. This is the official route of the path and was previously marked with a fence-line which the owner has removed - you are fully entitled to walk over this garden/lawn and it only takes 10 seconds to walk over. 4. Follow down the path - over the stile - and into and through the field. 5. Follow the farm trac...

This is a lovely short-ish walk from Farley Hill to Henry Street Garden Centre This is a linear walk, largely, there and back on the same route but there is a short difference at the end. Car Park This route starts at the Playing Fields on Castle Hill, there is limited parking there but normally enough for one or two cars. The Route 1. It's easy to miss  - there is a finger post pointing the way on the opposite side - so if you pass the house on the left - Shaw House, you've missed it! 6. This path soon joins another path- take it and head left downhill. 7. At the ...
